1. What NxtCure is — and is not
NxtCure is a companion for people going through cancer treatment. Luna, its assistant, does not diagnose, prescribe, or read your test results, and NxtCure is not a medical device. Always follow your own care team. In an emergency, call 911. You must be 18 or older to use NxtCure.
2. What we collect
- Your name, date of birth, cancer type and stage — entered by you during onboarding.
- Your medications, goals, symptoms and daily check-ins — entered by you in the tracker.
- The written transcript of your conversations with Luna (chat and voice calls).
- The text of documents you choose to upload for Luna to discuss.
Everything is collected directly from what you type, say, upload or enter — never from other apps, brokers, or background monitoring.
3. What we never do
We do not use your health information for advertising, and we do not share it with employers, insurers, or data brokers. We do not use it to make automated decisions about your care. If we ever want to use your information for something not listed here, we will ask you again first.
4. Companies that help us — and what they see
Three of these companies are AI services, and they are how Luna works at all — there is no version of Luna that does not use them. Each is bound by a written agreement (a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement where applicable) that permits it to use your information only to provide its service to us, requires protection equal to or greater than ours, and prohibits training models on your data.
- OpenAI or Anthropic (AI): receive your chat messages, your profile (name, age, cancer type and stage), your tracker (medications, goals, symptoms), your conversation transcripts and the text of uploaded documents — to write Luna's replies, extract structured notes, discuss your documents, and score clinical-trial matches.
- Deepgram (AI): receives your live call audio during a voice conversation, to turn speech into text and Luna's replies into a voice. We keep the resulting text, never the recording.
- Apple: payment for a subscription bought in the app — payment details only, no health information.
- Stripe: payment for a subscription bought on this website — payment details only, no health information.
- Expo & Apple: deliver notifications to your phone — the text of the notification.
- ClinicalTrials.gov: the public trial registry — your search terms only.
- Our community server: runs the support groups — only what you choose to post, under a pseudonym.
Our own servers and database are hosted on Google Cloud in the United States. If you are outside the United States, your information is transferred there.
5. Notifications can show your health information
Reminders name real items from your tracker, so anyone who can see your lock screen can see them. You can turn this off in Settings → Hide details in notifications.
6. How long we keep it, and how to delete it
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account — that permanently removes your profile, tracker, check-ins, conversations and community account, and cancels your subscription. Backups clear within 30 days. You can also request a copy of your information, correct it, or withdraw this consent: email superadmin@nxtcure.com. Withdrawing the consent stops the collection and AI processing it covers, which means Luna's features stop working.
7. The community is public
You post under a pseudonym, and your tracker and conversations are never shown there. But assume anything you post can be read by anyone and cannot be fully taken back. Other members are patients and carers, not clinicians.
Your choices in the app
- Required: consent to NxtCure collecting and using your health information as described above.
- Required: consent to the AI processing in section 4 — your chats, profile, tracker, documents and call audio shared with OpenAI or Anthropic, and Deepgram, to power Luna's features.
- Required: acknowledgment that the community is public and not medical advice.
- Optional: anonymous usage statistics — never your health information, off by default.
Review or change these any time under Settings → Your consent choices. If we make a material change to this document, the app will ask you again.
